Betty Gray Mabry Davis

July 26, 1944 - February 9, 2022

Betty Gray Mabry Davis, age 77 of Homestead, PA passed away peacefully on February 9, 2022. Betty was the daughter of the late Henry and Betty Mabry. Betty was preceded in death by her brother Henry "Chuckie" Mabry. Betty Gray, as she was known, by her family, Homestead neighbors, and childhood friends, was born July 26, 1944, in Durham, North Carolina, and moved in early adolescence with her family to Homestead, where she graduated from Homestead High School. After graduation, Betty moved to New York and attended the New York Fashion Institute of Technology to follow her dream of a career in fashion modeling, songwriting, and performing.

Betty's pioneering music career lasted decades and is chronicled in the movie documentary, "They Say I'm Different". After living in New York, London, Japan, and California, Betty returned to her hometown of Homestead. Recently, while she no longer performed live, Betty continued to compose music. Her influence in the entertainment industry spans all genres and generations. She is loved by fans and friends around the world.

She leaves behind her loving niece Cheana Mabry of Pittsburgh beloved Aunt Elnora Neal and cousins in North Carolina, and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on March 28, 2022, gathering at 10:30 AM and service at 11 AM at Park Place AME Church, 215 E. 10th Ave, Homestead, Pennsylvania, 15120 with a final service in Tokyo, Japan, date to be determined. Arrangements are being made by Aldrich Funeral Homes, 431 East 9th Ave, Munhall, Pennsylvania 15120. Online condolences may be offered by visiting aldrichfunderalhomes.com.
