Cornell Johnston was born on January 4, 1949, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Grace Marie Johnston and Eugene Cook.

He peacefully departed this life on May 1, 2026, at the age of 77.

Cornell will be remembered for his wit, humor, work ethic, and love for his family. He enjoyed reading and working out. He dedicated his life to his wife and kids. He touched the lives of many and leaves behind memories that will live on forever.

He attended Westinghouse High School and worked as a cement mason. He was raised by his grandparents, Monroe Johnston and Ophelia Johnston, alongside his cousins, Felonese Perkins and Dwight Perkins.

He is survived by his wife, Keeley Johston; seven children: Monroe Johnston, Ophelia Johnston, Natalie Johnston Rashad, Zalika Moore, Kakeeya Moore, Andresa Holland, and Tiffany; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers: Matthew Hunter and Clarance Hunter Jr; two sisters: Mary Hunter and Renee Hunter; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Cornell Johnston, Jr., and his brother, Monroe Hunter.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 9th at West Funeral Home, 2215 Wylie Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Visitation will be 11am-12pm; Service will begin at 12pm. Interment will be held privately.
