November 20, 1924 – January 4, 2015
Maxine Elaine was born on November 20, 1924 to Edgar and Ethel Posey in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. One of six children, she grew up in the Penn Hills area of the city. She attended and graduated from Penn HIlls High School.
Maxine attended West Virginia University and in 1947, she married Frederick G. Gray. To that union were born two daughters, Denise and Pamela.
Maxine accepted Christ at an early age and held many positions in the church throughout her lifetime. She served as Sunday School Teacher, Financial Secretary, a Steward, a member of the Mass Choir and the Missionary Society. Most of all she loved her St. Paul A.M.E. Church Family.
She worked many years for the Pittsburgh Public Schools and retired from that employer.
Maxine lived in Pittsburgh most of her life, until she went to live in Fort Worth, Texas with her daughter Pam for the last 10 years of her life.
She passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4,2015. She leaves behind her beloved children Denise and Pamela (Roy); grandchildren, Marc, Errol, Jr. Robyn and Montel; great grandchildren, Nazir, Nyla and Kiara; great-great-grandchild, Kyahra; and a host of relatives and friends.
