Reginald Norvell Portis was born October 20, 1942 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Alexander J Portis , Sr. and Martha Lou Freeman Portis. Reggie attended Burgwin Elementary School and Gladstone High School. Reggie enters the military and served his country for years. During his service Reggie enjoyed competing for the United States Army in the boxing ring, with matches both in the U.S. and overseas.
After leaving the military, Reggie discovered his passion for art and as an artist worked in many mediums and genres including charcoal, pastels and woodworking. He enjoyed painting portraits and was commissioned by many in the Pittsburgh area to create lasting treasures of their loved ones.
Reggie was also an avid chess player and enjoyed many good games in Market Square and the Hill District Library.
Reginald is survived by his beloved family: Son, Myles; Sisters, Priscilla (Portis) Burgess, Marsha (Portis) Mozley, Constance Portis and Brother Richard Portis. He also leaves to remember him, nieces , nephews and other relatives and friends including his long time devoted friend Teresa.
