Anna L. Mitchell

Anna (Annie) Leila Mitchell age 73, an adoring wife to husband Joseph Mitchell Sr.  and loving mother of four children was born April 30 1949 in Pittsburgh, Pa. She lived in Pittsburgh with her siblings until her family moved to New York when she was 14 years old. In 1967 when Annie returned to Pittsburgh to visit family, she ran into her childhood sweetheart Joseph Mitchell. They wanted to be with each other unconditionally, so she decided to stay in Pittsburgh and married October 18, 1968. 

Annie and Joseph were examples of true love and they were inseparable. They had 3 daughters Anna (Vicki), Jonina, Sakia and one son Joseph Jr. Everywhere Annie went her kids were always with her. They would go on walks, have picnics and even play kickball anytime was a nice day. When her kids got older, she always supported them no matter what. Going to their schools and sporting events, Annie was her kid’s biggest fan.  When the kids got older and started having a family of their own, she gave same love for her grandchildren also. 

Annie was loved by many friends and family. She had a big heart and was full of energy being the life of the party whenever she was around.  Even when her health problems started always checked on people no matter how she felt, Annie would try to make everyone smile. 

Anna is survived by her husband of 53 years Joseph Mitchell Sr. 3 daughters, a son and daughter in-law Tonika Mitchell. 11 Grandchildren Lenal Mar, Katelyn and Donald Lewis, Kwa’ Shawn and Malcolm Mitchell, Kiarah, Donavan, Keilen, Jordin, Tiana and Josiah Mitchell. 5 Great grandchildren Kwa’Shawn Jr. and Najee Mitchell, Zuri, Riley and Khloe Lewis. Siblings Beatrice Whitley, Bertha Fountain, Roxanne Taylor, Eugene Turner, Donna Turner, Nathaniel Turner, Leon Turner. Other family and friends too numerous to mention.

Services will be held on June 6, 2022 at Aldrich Funeral Homes    Visitation:10am-12pm             Service: 12pm              Interment: Greenwood Cemetery
