Robert Alsberry, Sr., 94, passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 21, 2021 in his Beltzhoover home. Affectionately known as “Buzzy”, he joins his wife Dorothy of 69 years, parents Joseph and Bessie Alsberry, brother Joseph Alsberry. He graduated from Peabody High School then joined the US Marine Corp and served during the World War 2. He had a successful career as one of the first African American inspectors for the USDA; also serving as President of its Union.
He enjoyed gardening as evidenced by The Alsberry Greenhouse, a business he and his wife Dorothy owned for a number of years. He was also an active member of the Beltzhoover Neighborhood Association. He was an avid camper and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his son Robert Alsberry, Jr., 2 grandchildren: Robert (Martin), Quinn Jones, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and acquaintances.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 29, 2021 at St. Paul's AME Church, 400 Orchard Pl, Pittsburgh, PA 15210. Visitation will be 10am-12pm and service begins at 12pm. Interment at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
