Ruth Rochelle McCray

Ruth Rochelle Katharine McCray (Ruthie) was born February 16, 1966 in Pittsburgh, PA to Patricia Thomas. She was a graduate of the South Hills High School class of ’84 and was voted the “Class Songbird”. Known by her big personality, an infectious smile, and her strong faith, Ruth was often a shoulder to lean on. Her passion for music was like no other as she started to sing at very young age never shying away from an opportunity to share her voice with the world. On August 9, 2002, she married her husband, Timothy McCray where they both epitomized the beauty of finding love later in life beyond the challenges of disability.

On August 24, 2020, she left her earthly home to go to her heavenly home. Preceding her in death are her husband, Timothy McCray, and her mother, Patricia Thomas.

She leaves behind her daughter, Cachet (Gregory) Coleman; 5 Grandchildren, Gregory, Micah, Giuliana, Asher, and Judah Coleman; Grandmother, Ruth Thomas; Best friend of 50 years, Gail Graham, Caretaker/Close Friend Chanel Billberry; and a host of aunts and cousins, too many to name but she was fond of each and every last one of them. Funeral arrangements by Aldrich Funeral Home, 431 E. 9th Street, Munhall, PA 15120. Family and friends are welcome to attend visitation Thursday, August 27, 2020, 4-8 PM, at the funeral home (Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be a limit of 25 people permitted in funeral home at one time.) Services will be held Friday, August 28, 2020 at 11 AM, 810 Fisher Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15210. Due to Covid-19 restrictions funeral service will be private for family. Internment will take place at Homewood Cemetery directly after service.
