Yma Smith

Yma Y. (Byrd) Smith,  63, a life-long resident of Labelle, Pa., gained her wings on, Saturday, February 20, 2021.

Yma was a Graduate of Brownsville High School, Class of 1975.  Because of her passion for cooking and her love for the Brownsville area, Yma contributed over a decade of service to the Brownsville Area School District Cafeteria.  She was deeply rooted in her faith and was a long time member of the Kingdom Hall.

Yma loved and cherished her family and friends.  She will be remembered for her love of cooking and her passion for feeding everyone she came in contact with.

Yma was preceded in death by her Father, Christopher Byrd, her Mother, Yvonne Weatherspoon Byrd and her younger Brother, Kerwin Byrd Sr. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 41 years, Rudolph V. Smith, of Labelle, PA., her brothers, Christopher “Chipper” Byrd, Kevin Byrd, Devega Byrd, Lamont Byrd and Lamar Byrd... Also left to cherish her memories, her nephew, whom she raised as her son, Jamar Byrd and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.  

Friends and family are invited to celebrate the Life of Yma (Byrd) Smith on Friday, February 26th at the Monessen Civic Center 861 Donner Ave, Monessen Pa.   The viewing will begin at 10am, funeral will begin at 12pm and her Interment will follow at the LaFayette Memorial Park, located at 132 Twin Hills Rd, Brier Hill, PA.
